Is a Mommy Makeover the Same as a Tummy Tuck?

Mothers are selfless caregivers that sacrifice their bodies for their children. From childbirth on, many mothers often put their mental, physical, and spiritual well-being second in order to care for others. If you want to get back to your pre-baby body after having a baby, a mommy makeover could be the confidence-booster you need.

Multiple Procedures

A “mommy makeover” is not the same as a tummy tuck. In fact, it’s not one surgery technique but a combination of many different cosmetic procedures designed to address body changes brought about by motherhood. Speak to a skilled plastic surgeon who can guide you through your surgery options to select the best ones for you.

While every patient is different, mommy makeovers often involve some combination of the following procedures:

  • Breast augmentation
  • Tummy tuck
  • Breast reduction
  • Breast lift
  • Liposuction

Your doctor can custom-tailor all of these procedures to meet your unique needs and restore your confidence in your body. This umbrella procedure is a good option if you struggle with loose and sagging skin, tissue stretching, and other childbirth-related cosmetic issues.

Timeline

Many patients come in for multiple surgeries in one session, saving you time and money. Once you have made your mommy makeover list, your team of plastic surgeons can create a surgical plan. We want to minimize your recovery time while providing beautiful, long-lasting results.

Please note that some procedures may have to be done separately. However, surgeons can typically fit most of your mommy makeover into one or two surgeries. It all depends on your surgical plan and overall health.

Candidates

Many mothers dream of getting a mommy makeover. In general, ideal candidates should be in good overall health before this procedure.

When you book a mommy makeover consultation, your surgeon will go over your medical history. If you have underlying conditions, such as heart disease or diabetes, your doctor can help you determine whether this is the best option for you.

Ideally, candidates don’t plan to have any more children in the future and are no longer breastfeeding, as these activities will affect the results of your procedure. However, future mothers-to-be are not ineligible and should still speak to a skilled plastic surgeon about their goals. It is also essential that candidates have enough time at home to heal properly.

Results

We encourage patients to exercise regularly and maintain a healthy diet with proper nutrition after their procedure. Consult with your doctor about a long-term post-op plan to ensure lasting results.
