Dr. Charles “Chuck” Schafer grew up in Abington, PA. His father is a respected general surgeon, and his mother is a seasoned nurse injector – Dr. Schafer gives credit to both of his parents as his main inspiration for becoming a plastic surgeon.
He graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Science and went on to receive his medical degree from Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine in South Florida. Following medical school, Dr. Schafer completed a rigorous general surgery residency at the University of North Carolina and ultimately became certified by the American Board of Surgery.
He was then selected for a plastic surgery fellowship at the prestigious Emory University in Atlanta, GA, which is regarded as one of the best programs in the country. During his time there, he trained at one of the busiest trauma centers in the nation where he gained experience in complex reconstructive surgery. He was also mentored by many well-known aesthetic surgeons while at Emory, which allowed him to refine his skills utilizing the most current and effective techniques for the face, breast, and body.
Dr. Schafer was awarded “Teacher of the Year” and was the first trainee EVER to earn the best Plastic Surgery Inservice Exam score at Emory for 3 years in a row. He joined Legacy Plastic Surgery & Aesthetics in February 2025.
Dr. Schafer loves spending quality time with his wife Kaitlin, his daughter Brynn, and his golden retriever Bruce. In his free time, he enjoys playing competitive racquetball, reading psychological thriller novels, and trying new restaurants around town.
“What I most enjoy about being a plastic surgeon is being able to transform a patient’s confidence in a single day. Success in plastic surgery is achieved by designing an operation based on unique patient anatomy and specific goals – there is NO room for a ‘one-size-fits-all’ approach in my practice.”
