About Us

Plastic Surgeons & Medical Spa Serving Exton & Nearby West Philadelphia, PA

Plastic surgery isn’t a specialty one falls into during medical school and residency. It’s a conscious choice to go into a field that emphasizes improving and restoring form, function and shape whether it’s a congenital anomaly, traumatic injury, post-cancer reconstruction or “setting mother nature’s clock back.”

Our world-class plastic surgeons believe in being responsive to patients’ needs. Drs. Kim and Wingate place a heavy focus on educating the men and women who come to us looking to enhance their appearance about all of their options. Any form of plastic surgery is a big decision, so we spend ample time explaining why and what we think is the best approach to achieve the goals of each individual we treat.

If you are considering a plastic surgery procedure, please contact Legacy Plastic Surgery today at 610-524-8244 to schedule your consultation. Our plastic surgeons serve patients from Exton, the Main Line, Chester County, Philadelphia, Eastern Pennsylvania, Delaware and other areas.

WORLD-CLASS PLASTIC SURGEONS

Both Dr. Kim and Dr. Wingate are Diplomat members of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Paul Kim began our practice in 1985, and Dr. Gary Wingate joined us in 1990 after being heavily influenced as a medical student by Dr. Kim himself in Chicago. Since then, our plastic surgeons have been nominated and awarded as “Top Docs” by their peers, and are top Doctors in the nation for BOTOX® Cosmetic and Juvederm™. They have published and presented award-winning clinical research on a variety of cosmetic and reconstructive surgery topics, and Drs. Kim and Wingate have taught plastic surgery techniques at two of the country’s top medical schools.

OUR FACILITIES

We have an Accredited Ambulatory Surgical Center located right next to our office building where we perform many of our plastic surgery procedures, making consultations, surgeries, and follow-ups convenient for our patients. We also perform some of our procedures at local hospitals, where Dr. Wingate is Chief of Plastic Surgery; Chester County and Brandywine Hospitals, where Dr. Kim is Chief of Plastic Surgery; Pottstown Memorial Medical Center; and Jennersville Regional Medical Center.

CHARITABLE ENDEAVORS

Both Dr. Kim and Dr. Wingate are proud to actively participate in Surgicorps International, a nonprofit devoted to offering free medical care and surgical services to people in developing countries. Together, they’ve performed more than 1,000 pro-bono surgeries around the world. These trips involve traveling to various parts of underserved nations and performing life-changing operations on individuals who have injuries such as burn wounds, animal bites or attacks, and genetic abnormalities such as cleft palates, cleft lips, ear and hand deformities.

Our plastic surgeons travel for Surgicorps every year and have since 2002. This nonprofit is quite small, so the physicians who participate not only donate their time but their money as well. Each doctor must pay for their airfare, meals, and so on during these trips which often involve 12-hour shifts for up to two weeks.

Some of the countries Drs. Kim and Wingate have traveled to in order to provide necessary surgical care to those in need include:

  • Ethiopia
  • Tanzania
  • Zambia
  • Uganda
  • India
  • Vietnam
  • Guatemala
  • Ecuador
  • Kazakhstan
  • Bhutan

QUESTIONS TO ASK A PLASTIC SURGEON

It’s essential for all of our patients to understand the ins and outs of their procedure. Some of the questions we feel are most important to ask any physician treating you include:

  • How many years of training have you had?
  • Where do you perform my procedure? At a hospital or an office-based surgical center?
  • Is the surgical center accredited or is it state-licensed or Medicare-certified?
  • Am I a good candidate for this procedure?
  • How can I get the best results?
  • What technique do you recommend for me?
  • How long is the recovery period and what should I expect during recovery?
  • What are the risks and complications of this procedure?
  • How can I expect to look following the procedure?
